We launched the nomination process for this year’s Rochester Local Heroes at a garden party which took place at St Margaret’s Church on 21 May. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event – we are pleased to announce that we will be donating to charity £200 of the money taken on the day.

We had a fabulous time on 21 May at St Margaret's Church, with fine weather, refreshments, music and games – launching this year's Rochester Local Heroes nominations and in the process raising money for charity.

We are pleased to announce that £100 is going to Medway Foodbank and £100 to the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

On the day we entertained our visitors with hook a duck, tin can alley, a tombola (with a star prize of two tickets to Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, courtesy of Medway Tickets Live. Huge thanks go to all the other wonderful people who donated prizes and helped out on the day: Hero Visits, Get Ready Comics, Bohemian Treats, Crackle Bread Bakery, Dockyard Jam Factory, Rochester Wick Company, Tanya Outen Artist, Deer Designs, Music Management & Promotion, Medway Council, Chiquitos Rochester, Stormtrooper Steve, Tiny Tim’s of Rochester

There was wonderful live music in our mini-marquee – framed by the spectacular view of the river across Churchfields – from Fede Jon Laba and CalGarRy. And, to the delight of all the children present (of all ages!) we were joined by Stormtrooper Steve and Hero Visits,

Please take a few moments to think about your choices for Local Hero nominations. The categories are here and you can nominate in as many of them as you would like. The award ceremony will take place in October.
